The Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria has applauded the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, for his commitment to transparency and accountability in the wake of the recently concluded 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
In a statement issued by its Executive Secretary, Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose, BON commended Professor Oloyede for candidly acknowledging both human and technical errors that impacted the conduct of the exam, while also taking full responsibility for the shortcomings.
The organisation hailed the move as a rare act of integrity and boldness that exemplifies what leadership in public service should look like.
“Professor Oloyede’s acknowledgment of the challenges and his willingness to address them reflect exemplary courage and a commitment to accountability,” the statement read.
BON further appreciated JAMB’s swift response in addressing the irregularities, particularly the board’s decision to reschedule examinations for candidates who were affected by the technical issues.
According to the group, this action speaks volumes about JAMB’s commitment to fairness and equity in access to higher education.
The organisation also highlighted the synergy between JAMB and the West African Examinations Council in navigating the situation, describing it as a noteworthy example of inter-agency collaboration in the education sector.
Calling on other public officers to take a cue from Professor Oloyede’s approach, BON emphasized that transparency and accountability are key pillars for fostering public trust and enhancing the country’s image.
Reaffirming its dedication to promoting ethical governance, BON urged all stakeholders in the education sector to adopt integrity and responsiveness as guiding principles in their operations.
