Super Eagles midfielder, Raphael Onyedika, made his mark with an assist as Club Brugge demolished Rangers 6-0 in their UEFA Champions League playoff second-leg clash on Wednesday.
The emphatic victory sealed a 9-1 aggregate triumph for the Belgian side, securing their passage into the group stage of this season’s competition.
For Nigeria, there was further positive news as Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers returned from injury to make the Rangers matchday squad, though he remained an unused substitute.
Club Brugge also had 18-year-old Kaye Furo, son of former Super Eagles defender Furo Iyenemi, on the bench for the encounter.
Onyedika’s contribution came in the 45th minute, when he set up the fourth goal of Brugge’s ruthless first-half display.
Elsewhere in the playoffs, Nigerian winger Philip Otele featured for Basel but could not prevent a 2-0 defeat away to FC Copenhagen.
The Swiss side bowed out of the competition 3-1 on aggregate.
