United States President, Donald Trump, on Tuesday revealed plans to pardon Todd and Julie Chrisley, stars of the reality show Chrisley Knows Best, who are currently serving prison time following their 2022 convictions for bank fraud and tax evasion.
Trump, once a reality TV figure himself, personally phoned Savannah Chrisley, daughter of the incarcerated couple, with the news.
In the video of the call posted on X by White House adviser Margo Martin, Trump told Savannah, “Your parents are going to be free and clean and I hope we can do it by tomorrow.”
During the call, Trump added, “They were given a pretty harsh treatment based on what I am hearing.” Savannah, a vocal Trump supporter who spoke at the previous Republican National Convention, appeared emotional as she received the news.
This potential pardon aligns with a broader pattern under Trump’s leadership, in which he has extended clemency to several allies and supporters facing criminal convictions.
Notably, on January 20, his first day after returning to the White House — the 78-year-old Republican issued a sweeping pardon for individuals charged in connection with the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
Summing up the administration’s approach to pardons, Ed Martin, Trump’s pardon attorney, posted on X, “No MAGA left behind,” a nod to the former president’s “Make America Great Again” campaign mantra.
Ironically, Trump himself was convicted last year on 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records tied to a hush money payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
