Troops of the 3 Division/Joint Task Force (Operation Enduring Peace) have arrested two suspected cattle rustlers and recovered weapons and ammunition in Mangu Local Government Area, authorities said on Thursday.

Major Samson Zhakom, spokesman for the military taskforce, confirmed the arrests, saying the operation was conducted on September 11, 2025, in Kogul Village following intelligence reports.

“During the raid, our troops apprehended two notorious cattle rustlers and recovered an AK-47 rifle with magazine, a fabricated revolver, ten rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one mobile phone, and cash,” Zhakom stated.

He added that the suspects are currently in military custody as investigations continue.

According to Zhakom, follow-up operations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate.

“This arrest is pivotal to the ongoing efforts to tackle security challenges in the Joint Operations Area,” he said.

“Troops of 3 Division/JTF OPEP remain committed to ensuring peace and security in the state.”

Residents and security analysts have welcomed the operation, describing it as a significant step towards addressing cattle rustling and related criminal activities in Plateau State.

The military emphasized that the taskforce is determined to curb activities that fuel insecurity and disrupt local communities.
