Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully neutralized 15 terrorists in Katsina State, detained 13 suspects in Kaduna, and recovered weapons from armed herders in Benue between Friday and Saturday.
A credible source at Army Headquarters confirmed the operations to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.
The source explained that air and ground offensives targeted Zango High Ground in Kankara Local Government Area, Katsina, where troops destroyed terrorists’ hideouts following coordinated airstrikes and ground assaults.
“Intercepted communications confirmed 15 terrorists were killed, with several others wounded,” the source said.
In Kaduna, joint operations by 1 Division Garrison, the police, and other agencies led to the apprehension of 13 suspects and illicit drugs.
Black spots in Unguwan Dosa, Unguwan Yero, Kwaru, and Majalisa areas were raided during the operation.
The source further highlighted security activities in other states:
“In Sokoto State, troops foiled terrorist activities in Sabon Birni and Wurno LGAs, rescuing a driver and his vehicle.”
“However, four suspected terrorists were lynched by locals in Kaura Village, while three others were rescued and handed to the police.”
“Two suspected terrorist informants were also arrested in Gudu Local Government Area,” he added.
In Benue State, troops under Operation Whirl Stroke killed one armed herder during clearance operations in Logo Local Government Area. An AK-47 rifle, 19 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and other items were recovered.
The source also noted that troops intervened in clashes across Kwande and Guma Local Government Areas, diffusing tensions and evacuating an injured farmer to the hospital.
“The Nigerian Army said troops remain on aggressive patrols across theatres to deny terrorists freedom of action and ensure security of lives and property,” the source concluded.
