Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East Operation HADIN KAI, have killed nine Boko Haram terrorists, including two of the group’s top field commanders, during clearance operations in Borno State.

According to a reliable military source, the operations were carried out between August 21 and 22 with support from the Air Component, successfully foiling planned attacks in Bita and Wulgo communities.

The source disclosed that the slain commanders were identified as Abu Nazir, Munzir of Juye, and Abu Fatima, Munzir of Koloram.

“They were neutralised in a fierce gun battle around the Wulgo axis. Our troops recovered AK-47 rifles, a large quantity of ammunition, and six motorcycles used by the insurgents,” the source told journalists.

The military high command commended the troops for their gallantry, stressing that the achievement was another major step in degrading the capabilities of Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in the North-East.

In a brief statement, a defence official urged the soldiers to maintain the offensive.

“The Armed Forces remain committed to sustaining the momentum in the counter-insurgency campaign. Despite the challenges, our troops will not relent until the region is free from terrorist activities,” the official said.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle Boko Haram cells and restore peace across insurgency-hit communities in Borno State.
