In a series of coordinated offensives across Borno State, Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised 24 Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents between July 4 and 9, 2025.
According to a statement by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Theatre Command, Captain Reuben Kovangiya, the operations were carried out with air support and in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force and local hunters.
“The joint efforts of the land and air components, alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force and hunters, have significantly degraded terrorist elements across key locations,” said Captain Kovangiya.
The military operation covered multiple locations, including Platari, Komala, Kawuri, Madarari, Leno Kura, Sabsawa, Ngoshe-Gava, Ngoshe-Ashigashiya, Amuda-Gava, Pambula, Tangalanga, Bula Marwa, Ngailda, Manjim, and Wulle.
Captain Kovangiya detailed that three insurgents were gunned down on July 4 during an ambush at Platari while they were travelling on bicycles from the Sambisa Forest to the Timbuktu Triangle. Additional ambushes and clearance missions across Komala, Kawuri, and Leno Kura also led to the elimination of multiple terrorists and the recovery of motorcycles, logistics materials, and food supplies.
“On July 5, our troops intercepted insurgents attempting to infiltrate the Madarari IDP camp in Konduga LGA. Swift response led to the death of one terrorist, with several others fleeing with injuries,” he added.
Further operations on July 6 through 9 saw successful raids at various hideouts, including Ngoshe-Ashigashiya and Amuda-Gava, with the army recovering weapons, uniforms, and critical supplies. Clearance missions at Bula Marwa and Tangalanga resulted in the destruction of terrorist camps and the seizure of rifles, magazines, and ammunition.
“In total, 24 insurgents were eliminated during the week-long operations. This reflects our unwavering resolve to ensure the North-East becomes safe again for civilians and socio-economic activities to flourish,” Kovangiya noted.
He added that the military would sustain momentum in its kinetic and intelligence-led operations, stressing that the recent achievements underline “the effectiveness of collaboration with local security volunteers and the significance of accurate intelligence.”
