Transfer: Mutiu Adepoju
Former Super Eagles star, Mutiu Adepoju, has weighed in on the future of Victor Osimhen, urging the prolific striker to resist any move away from Galatasaray despite growing transfer interest.
Osimhen, 26, has enjoyed a stellar 2024–25 campaign on loan with the Turkish giants, netting an outstanding 37 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.
His goal-scoring exploits played a vital role in Galatasaray’s domestic double, as they clinched both the Turkish Super Lig and the Turkish Cup.
Amid reports that Galatasaray has triggered Osimhen’s €75 million release clause, approximately ₦135 billion in Nigerian currency, the offer is understood to be structured as installment payments spread across five years, rather than an upfront fee.
While Osimhen’s future continues to stir speculation, Adepoju, speaking with Footy Africa, expressed his preference for a move to Juventus but ultimately advised the Nigerian forward to remain where he has thrived.
“I think in my own opinion, I would have loved him to move to Juventus, but if they cannot match his salary and the transfer fee that Napoli is asking for, then I think he should stay back at Galatasaray,” Adepoju said.
“The fans there love him, and he has spent a year there with a lot of success. I think he should continue there and have more success,” he added. “He is a good player and with Galatasaray, I believe they will also love to have him back. Once they can reach an agreement, he should join them, in my opinion.”
Adepoju’s remarks come as Galatasaray push to make Osimhen’s move permanent following his sensational season in Istanbul.
