Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has credited President Bola Tinubu’s infrastructure achievements with undermining opposition efforts to form a coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking during the commissioning of roads in Abuja, Wike dismissed critics of the administration while praising Tinubu’s impact on governance.

“Some people, whatever you do, will not be happy; many of them were born not to be happy,” Wike said. “Under Tinubu, contractors now have confidence in the government. Your good works have killed the coalition in Nigeria.”

The remarks come as opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, attempt to unite parties against the ruling All Progressives Congress. Wike, however, suggested Tinubu’s performance has weakened such efforts.

During the event, President Tinubu hinted at welcoming Wike into the APC, though the FCT minister remains a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

“Even though the FCT minister is not yet a member of the APC, the party is open to receiving him whenever he decides to switch,” Tinubu said while inaugurating the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) and other projects in Katampe District.

He added, “The APC will continue to be in a joyous mood with Wike while the party’s rivals will continue to writhe in pain.”
