The Nasarawa State Government has announced that all preparations are complete for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to Lafia on Wednesday, where he will commission several landmark projects executed by Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration.

State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr. Tanko Ibrahim, confirmed this during a press briefing on Tuesday at his office in Lafia.

“The president will be received at the Usman Danfodio Airport in Lafia and will proceed to commission the under/overhead Lafia bridge. After which, the president will pay homage to the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage, rtd, at his palace,” Dr. Tanko stated.

He further disclosed that President Tinubu would commission the state’s new tractors, the Shendam dual carriageway, and the ultra-modern state secretariat complex along Shendam Road. The visit will conclude with a town hall meeting at the Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall in Government House.

Dr. Tanko emphasized that all the projects being commissioned were fully funded by the state government without borrowing. He called on residents to come out en masse to give the president a warm reception.

Meanwhile, the Nasarawa State Police Command has announced traffic diversions and partial movement restrictions in Lafia from 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 24, to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, to ensure security during the presidential visit.

Commissioner of Police Shettima Jauro Mohammed outlined the traffic arrangements: “Vehicles coming into Lafia from the Akwanga axis will be diverted at Mechanic Village, Azuba, to use the bypass, Akurba, Mararaba Akunza, and then connect to the Makurdi Road. Vehicles coming from Makurdi will be diverted at Bukan Kwato–Mararaba Akunza to link Akurba and Azuba.”

The CP assured the public of adequate security along alternative routes and appealed for cooperation, stating that the measures were necessary to ensure a safe and successful presidential visit.

The projects to be commissioned represent key infrastructural developments in Nasarawa State, showcasing Governor Sule’s commitment to transforming the state’s landscape and improving connectivity for residents.
