President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has denounced the recent suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, and an explosion in Kano State that left several people dead and injured.

He described the Borno attack as a cowardly act and extended his condolences to the families of the victims in both incidents.

In a statement issued on Sunday, June 22, 2025, by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and injuries sustained during the attacks.

“President Bola Tinubu has expressed anguish over the suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, at the weekend. The President mourned those who lost their lives, describing the attack as cowardly,” the statement read.

The President also directed security agencies to intensify operations against the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists, who have continued to launch attacks on vulnerable civilian areas.

“He urged security agencies to double their efforts in routing remnants of the Boko Haram insurgents who resort to attacks on soft targets as a diversionary tactic,” Onanuga added.

President Tinubu assured the people of Borno State of his administration’s commitment to ending insurgency and restoring lasting peace in the North-East.

He also directed the National Emergency Management Agency to provide immediate relief and assistance to the survivors.

“President Tinubu condoled with the government and people of Borno State over the incident and directed the National Emergency Management Agency to support survivors,” the statement said.

In a separate incident in Kano State, a Saturday morning explosion at a scrap metal facility claimed the lives of five individuals and injured ten others. Reacting to the development, Tinubu sympathised with the affected families and called for a thorough investigation.

“The President has sympathised with the families of those killed or injured by an explosion on Saturday morning in Kano,” the statement noted.

“He also emphasised the need for strict enforcement of safety protocols and directed relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the explosion.”

President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Nigeria, and to holding accountable those who endanger public safety through negligence or violence.
