President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep condolences to communities and families affected by recent tragedies—the flood disaster in Yola, Adamawa State, and the boat mishap in Guni village, Niger State.

In a statement, the President acknowledged flooding as a global climate-related challenge but urged citizens to avoid actions that exacerbate risks.

He mourned the lives lost and praised the efforts of Adamawa and Niger States’ Emergency Management Agencies, local divers, volunteers, and community leaders involved in search and recovery operations.

President Tinubu raised concerns about persistent incidents despite safety advocacy by the Federal Ministry of Environment, the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, and the National Inland Waterways Authority. He called on opinion leaders and regulatory bodies to intensify public awareness on waterway safety.

“Citizens and entrepreneurs using waterways for livelihood must strictly adhere to safety measures advocated by authorities to prevent these needless losses,” the President emphasized.

To address the crises, President Tinubu has directed the National Emergency Response Centre and the National Emergency Management Agency to collaborate with Adamawa and Niger State governments in executing immediate rescue and relief operations.
