President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming Nigeria into an agricultural powerhouse, as he unveiled over 2,000 modern tractors and thousands of farming tools under the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme.

Speaking at the launch event in Abuja on Monday, June 23, 2025, the president said the initiative aims to modernise farming, ease food production challenges, and make agriculture more attractive to Nigerian youths.

“We have over 2,000 advanced tractors, 50 bulldozers, 12 mobile workshops, and more than 9,000 farming implements ready for deployment,” President Tinubu announced. “This will make farming easier, create jobs, and make it ‘sexier’ for our youths.”

The programme, which is spearheaded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, also includes international partnerships to train young Nigerians in machine operation, repair, and equipment fabrication.

“We are working with countries like Belarus to provide training opportunities that will equip our youths with modern agricultural and mechanical skills, enabling them to become self-reliant,” the president said.

He urged beneficiaries to take full advantage of the equipment, emphasizing that accountability measures would be enforced to ensure proper usage.

“We will supervise and hold you accountable. These machines are not for decoration—they are tools for national development,” Tinubu warned.

Praising the efforts of the Agriculture Ministry in combating food insecurity, he described the initiative as a major step towards reviving the nation’s agricultural sector.

“Let history remember today as the beginning of Nigeria’s agricultural renaissance,” he declared.
