President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Friday, July 18, for Kano State to commiserate with the family of the late business magnate and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the visit in a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
“President Tinubu will depart Abuja today for Kano to condole with the Kano State Government and the family of Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who passed away in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on June 28,” Onanuga said.
He did not specify when the President is expected to return to Abuja after the condolence visit.
Onanuga noted that Tinubu was out of the country when Dantata passed away but had earlier directed a delegation of ministers, led by the Minister of Defence, to represent him at the burial in Saudi Arabia.
“President Tinubu was out of the country at the time of Dantata’s passing but directed some of his ministers, led by the Defence Minister, to attend the burial in Saudi Arabia as a mark of honour for the late nonagenarian,” he added.
Alhaji Aminu Dantata, a revered industrialist and uncle to Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, died at the age of 94 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He was buried on July 1 at the Al-Baqi Cemetery in Madina, Saudi Arabia, beside his late wife, in accordance with his final wishes.
