President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Super Falcons following their dramatic triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

In an unforgettable final played Saturday night in Rabat, Nigeria’s women fought back from a two-goal deficit at half-time to defeat hosts Morocco 3-2, showcasing grit, composure, and championship pedigree.

The Atlas Lionesses, cheered on by a fervent home crowd, took a commanding 2-0 lead into the break.

However, the Super Falcons responded with remarkable resolve after the interval. Esther Okoronkwo ignited the comeback, followed by a timely equalizer from Folashade Ijamilusi, before Jennifer Echegini sealed the victory with a dramatic late winner.

The result dashed Morocco’s hopes of a first-ever continental title on home turf, as the Nigerian side reaffirmed their dominance in African women’s football.

Reacting to the pulsating encounter, President Tinubu praised the team’s fighting spirit, “The Super Falcons’ spectacular performance tonight in Rabat, coming from behind to beat a spirited Moroccan side playing in front of a passionate home crowd, exemplifies the determination that defines the Nigerian spirit.”

He added, “With hard work, dedication, and tenacity, you have achieved the mission the nation dreamed of and prayed for.

“The nation looks forward to welcoming our champions. Congratulations! Nigeria celebrates you.”

The victory not only secures another title for the Super Falcons but also serves as a powerful reminder of the team’s enduring legacy on the African stage.
