Operatives attached to the CP-Special Assignment Team have apprehended three women suspected of dealing in illicit substances during a sting operation in Afiesere, a town located in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The operation, which was carried out based on credible intelligence, led to the discovery and seizure of a large cache of illegal drugs, including Tramadol, Codeine, Swinol, and Cannabis.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, made this known during a press briefing held in Asaba.
He identified the arrested suspects as Doris Okoroko, 55; Gladys Otah, 46; and Anita Samuel, 23.
CP Abaniwonda stated, “On 30/07/2025 at about 1530hrs, Operatives of CP- Special Assignment Team, while acting on credible intelligence, embarked on a sting operation and raided a hideout situated at Afisere town in Ughelli North LGA of Delta State.
“Upon thorough search, different types of illicit drugs, which include Tramadol, Codeine, Swinol and Cannabis were recovered in large quantities.”
The arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by the Delta State Police Command to curb the distribution and consumption of dangerous drugs in the state.
