US Open champion, Carlos Alcaraz, has opted out of representing Spain in the upcoming Davis Cup, citing fatigue.

The 22-year-old Spaniard, who secured his second U.S. Open title on Sunday with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over Jannik Sinner, had been named in Spain’s squad for their Davis Cup qualifier against Denmark.

However, he has decided to withdraw, choosing to rest and take a brief break from competitive tennis, according to Spanish media outlet Cadena SER.

Jaume Munar has been called in as Alcaraz’s replacement in the Spanish squad.

Alcaraz’s triumph in New York also saw him reclaim the world No. 1 ranking, displacing Sinner and extending his Grand Slam tally to six, echoing the achievement that first propelled him to the top in 2022.
