Former Chelsea and Super Eagles star, John Mikel Obi, has described Paris Saint-Germain as the most feared team in world football at the moment.

Mikel made the remark while analyzing Wednesday’s Club World Cup semi-final clash on DAZN, where PSG produced a stunning performance to dismantle Real Madrid 4-0.

PSG stormed into the FIFA Club World Cup final with a commanding 4-0 victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday, thanks to a dazzling first-half performance led by midfielder Fabián Ruiz, who struck twice.

The emphatic win saw PSG eliminate their former talisman Kylian Mbappé and set up a showdown with Chelsea.

The French giants capitalized on two early defensive blunders by Madrid to grab a quick lead within the opening nine minutes at MetLife Stadium.

Fabián Ruiz, Ousmane Dembélé, and Gonçalo Ramos were all on the scoresheet, dismantling Xabi Alonso’s side and securing PSG’s spot in Sunday’s final.

The French champions, who will now take on Chelsea in pursuit of their second major title this season, having already lifted the UEFA Champions League last month.

Chelsea booked their place in the Club World Cup final thanks to a stunning brace from Joao Pedro, who marked his full debut for the Blues in style by sinking Fluminense.

Enzo Maresca’s men delivered a composed and polished display at MetLife Stadium, showcasing both class and discipline to secure their spot in Sunday’s title clash.

Reflecting on PSG’s dominance, Mikel said, “I don’t think anybody wants to play PSG right now.

” Every team in the world right now is looking at them asking ‘how can we play like this?’ Everything they did was an absolute masterclass.”

The last encounter between PSG and Chelsea was a fiercely contested UEFA Champions League tie in 2016, where PSG emerged victorious over two legs in the Round of 16.

After winning the first leg 2-1 in Paris, the French side repeated the same scoreline at Stamford Bridge, with goals from Zlatan Ibrahimović and Adrien Rabiot sealing a 4-2 aggregate win.

Despite Chelsea’s efforts, PSG’s attacking quality and composure proved decisive, sending them through to the quarterfinals and ending the London club’s European campaign.

The winner of the 2025 Club World Cup will receive a grand total of up to $125 million, which includes a $40 million championship bonus on top of performance-based payouts (group wins, knockout bonuses) and a substantial participation fee allocated to all clubs .
