A fuel-laden tanker burst into flames on Tuesday along the Ibadan Expressway in Oyo State, causing a severe traffic jam between the Oremeji and Olorunsogo axis.
As of the time of reporting, no casualties had been confirmed, but the inferno continued to burn intensely as emergency crews worked tirelessly to contain it.
The Oyo State Fire Service was quick to react, dispatching personnel to the scene without delay.
Confirming the development, the agency’s General Manager, Akinyemi Akinyinka, said firefighters had been mobilized.
“Yes, a tanker is on fire near Sumurah, between Olorunsogo and Oremeji. Our response team is already at the scene,” Akinyinka told our correspondent in a phone interview on Tuesday.
