Borussia Dortmund advanced to the round of 16 at the Club World Cup thanks to a first-half goal from Daniel Svensson, sealing a 1-0 win over South Korea’s Ulsan Hyundai on Wednesday.
The Bundesliga side came out firing, with Jobe Bellingham, Felix Nmecha, and Karim Adeyemi causing constant problems for the Ulsan backline.
Their pressure paid off in the 36th minute when Svensson found the net from close range to give Dortmund the lead.
Ulsan’s goalkeeper Hyeon-Woo Jo put in a commendable performance, pulling off a series of crucial saves to keep his side in the game.
He notably stopped a powerful header from Serhou Guirassy and thwarted efforts by Pascal Gross and Yan Couto.
With the win, Dortmund topped Group F, while Brazilian outfit Fluminense secured second place after a goalless draw against South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
