The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command, has arrested a suspected ritualist identified as Samuel Adewunmi, popularly known as Ifa Science, for allegedly inflicting grievous bodily harm on a two-month-old baby.

The suspect was accused of cutting out a part of the baby’s body, specifically behind the back of the head.

According to Daily Post, the arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday signed by the State Commandant, Remilekun Ekundayo.

According to the statement, the arrest followed a tip-off from 53-year-old Kola Taiwo, the father of the child.

“Upon receiving the information, officers of the command swiftly intervened and arrested the suspect, who is currently undergoing investigations with the intelligence and investigations department,” Ekundayo stated.

She emphasized that the offence is punishable under the Criminal Code Laws of the state and assured that the command “will do everything within its powers to ensure justice is appropriately served.”

Ekundayo also issued a stern warning to parents, urging them to “be very careful and critical of their children’s whereabouts.”

She added, “Anyone intending to cause any form of bodily harm, damage, or dangerous mayhem on another should be ready to bear the consequences.”

The Commandant maintained that the NSCDC “will not hesitate to ensure that the full weight of the law is meted out on such a suspect.”
