A Supercomputer has tipped Benfica to emerge as champions of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, set to kick off next weekend in the United States.
The prediction, generated by BoyleSports, casts doubt over the chances of Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester City.
While the forecast sees Chelsea crashing out early, it expects City to go all the way to the final, only to fall short.
This year’s expanded tournament will begin on Sunday, with both Chelsea and Manchester City flying the flag for the Premier League.
Their qualification comes courtesy of Champions League triumphs in 2021 and 2023, respectively.
Notably, both sides previously lifted the Club World Cup under its former structure.
However, the BoyleSports Supercomputer has projected a different outcome this time, with neither English club expected to lift the trophy. Instead, it sees Benfica being “crowned champions of the world.”
The prediction outlines a dramatic run to the final for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who are tipped to defeat European heavyweights Real Madrid, Inter Milan, and Juventus en route.
But despite their impressive run, Guardiola’s men are forecasted to lose the final 2-1 to Benfica.
