Super Falcons skipper and prolific forward, Rasheedat Ajibade, has voiced her disappointment over the continued delay in the payment of allowances and bonuses promised to the national team.
The Atletico Madrid star made the revelation in an upcoming episode of With Chude, hosted by renowned media personality Chude Jideonwo, where she confirmed that the players were still waiting for the pledged $100,000 reward and other entitlements, despite repeated assurances from the authorities.
“We have not received our money oo. Please, they have not paid. All the promises you heard back and forth, we have not received anything,” she said.
Ajibade explained that while they had been told the funds had already been allocated, nothing had reached them so far.
“People are begging. We have not received it. When they pay it, you will see. Even our match bonuses and everything… everything is still a work in progress,” she lamented.
The 24-year-old urged the responsible bodies to keep their word, stressing that the prolonged wait was affecting the players’ morale.
President Bola Tinubu had, in July 2025, announced a $100,000 cash reward for each player alongside other bonuses after the Super Falcons claimed a record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco.
Reflecting on her career, Ajibade disclosed that she played for FC Robo Queens in the Nigeria Women’s Football League for a decade without receiving a salary, describing the experience as “a tough moment.”
She also shared that she grew up in “a compound of almost 100 people” in Mushin, Lagos, where she had to “wash people’s toilets and bathrooms for money” to get by.
Ajibade rose through the ranks at FC Robo Queens before moving to Norwegian side Avaldsnes IL at just 17.
She later secured a move to Atletico Madrid Feminino in 2021, where she continues to shine on the European stage.
