The Super Falcons of Nigeria are set to begin their final phase of preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with a training camp scheduled to open this week in Portugal.

As part of their buildup to the tournament, Justine Madugu’s team will face off against Portugal in a friendly match on Monday, June 23.

The much-anticipated fixture is expected to provide the Nigerian ladies with a solid test as they gear up for the WAFCON finals later this year.

Earlier in June, the Super Falcons claimed a morale-boosting 2-0 win over the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.

Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade was the star of the show, netting both goals in the victory.

Head coach Madugu has already submitted his squad list for the Portugal camp to the Nigeria Football Federation, with the list expected to be officially unveiled within the week.

Following the conclusion of their camp, the nine-time African champions will travel straight from Portugal to Morocco, where the tournament will take place.

Nigeria’s first match at the 2024 WAFCON is slated for Sunday, July 6, at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, where they will take on Tunisia. The other teams in their group include Botswana and Algeria.
