Super Falcons star, Asisat Oshoala, is set for a big move to the Middle East, with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal Women closing in on her signature.
According to The Athletic, Al-Hilal have reached an agreement with U.S. side Bay FC for the transfer of the six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year.
Oshoala, who touched down in Riyadh on Monday, has already completed her medicals, paving the way for an official announcement expected in the coming days.
From Barcelona to Bay FC
The Nigerian forward only joined Bay FC in February 2024 after a trophy-laden spell with Barcelona Femeni.
She wasted no time making an impact in the NWSL, scoring the decisive goal on her debut in a 1-0 win over Angel City.
Her final outing for Bay came last weekend in a 3-2 defeat to Washington Spirit.
Nigerians in Saudi Arabia
The Lagos-born striker’s imminent switch will further swell the Nigerian presence in the Saudi Women’s League.
Ashleigh Plumptre and Francisca Ordega feature for Al-Ittihad, veteran midfielder Rita Chikwelu turns out for Al-Riyadh, while forward Chinonyerem Macleans plays for Al-Shabab.
At 30, Oshoala brings star quality, experience, and global recognition to Al-Hilal, making her one of the league’s most high-profile signings yet.
