Nigeria’s Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has earned a nomination for the 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy, as part of the annual Ballon d’Or award.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper is one of five elite goalkeepers shortlisted for the prestigious honour.

Joining her on the shortlist are Ann-Katrin Berger of Gotham FC, Barcelona’s Cata Coll, Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton, and Arsenal’s Daphne van Domselaar.

Nnadozie’s stellar performances have earned widespread recognition. She was instrumental in Paris FC’s historic Coupe de France Féminine triumph in May, where her heroics in goal helped the side defeat Paris Saint-Germain 5-4 on penalties, marking their first major trophy in nearly 20 years.

Her impact was equally significant on the international stage. Nnadozie played a vital role in Nigeria’s victorious campaign at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the Super Falcons claimed their 10th continental title.

She kept four clean sheets in six matches and was named the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper.

In related news, Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu, has also been shortlisted for the Women’s Team Coach of the Year award.

Madugu led the Nigerian side to glory at WAFCON 2024, further cementing the team’s dominance on the African continent.
