Super Eagles will beat South Africa, says ex-Shootng Stars coach

Former Shooting Stars manager, Fatai Amoo, has expressed strong belief that the Super Eagles will secure maximum points when they face South Africa in today’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Bloemfontein.

With only nine points left to contest for, Nigeria head into the matchday eight fixture trailing Bafana Bafana by six points, making the clash a decisive one for their qualification hopes.

A win, however, could significantly boost the three-time African champions’ chances of sealing a ticket to the World Cup.

In a chat with Complete Sports, Amoo noted that while the encounter will be highly competitive, he is confident the Eagles will rise to the occasion.

“The game against South Africa will no doubt be tough, but I am very relaxed because I believe the Super Eagles will come out victorious,” he said.

The former youth coach stressed that the Nigerian side are no strangers to high-pressure situations, adding that the team could even win convincingly despite South Africa’s confidence ahead of the game.

“One thing you must know is that the Super Eagles can handle pressure of this kind. This could turn out to be a match Nigeria wins emphatically, no matter the boastful attitude of the South Africans. I expect a positive outing and victory for the Eagles when it’s all said and done,” Amoo stated.
