Super Eagles’ Lookman snubs Atalanta training amid push for Inter move

Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, was conspicuously absent from Atalanta’s training session on Monday as tensions rise over his desire to secure a move to Inter Milan.

Reports from multiple sources confirmed that the 27-year-old did not report to the Zingonia training ground, fueling speculation that he is taking steps to force a transfer away from the Bergamo outfit.

On Sunday, Lookman publicly disclosed that he had formally submitted a transfer request to Atalanta.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the Nigerian international expressed frustration with the club, alleging they had reneged on promises made regarding his future.

However, Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi swiftly dismissed those claims, clarifying that while the club had agreed to consider offers for the winger, the understanding was that he would not be sold to a Serie A rival.

Inter Milan, as direct domestic competitors, were not part of that agreement, according to Percassi.

Lookman’s decision to boycott training adds further pressure on Atalanta, as Inter are reportedly preparing an improved bid, raising their offer to €42 million plus €3 million in performance-related add-ons.

With two years remaining on his current deal, the coming days could prove pivotal in determining whether Lookman will get his desired move or remain in Bergamo.
