Super Eagles winger, Chidera Ejuke, has been sidelined with a thigh injury, Spanish club Sevilla confirmed ahead of their pre-season friendly against Marseille on Saturday.
The announcement was made via the club’s official X account, where they wrote, “Ejuke suffers a thigh injury, ruling him out of tonight’s match against Marseille. Get well soon, Chidi!”
Ejuke, who arrived at Sevilla on a free transfer last summer, featured 25 times in La Liga last season, contributing two goals and one assist.
His performances earned him Sevilla’s Player of the Month award in September 2024.
As the Andalusian side look to turn the page on a difficult 2024/25 season, Ejuke’s setback comes as a blow to their preparations.
The club narrowly avoided relegation, finishing 17th with 41 points, just a single point clear of the drop zone.
Sevilla will be hoping for a swift recovery for Ejuke as they aim for a stronger campaign in the upcoming season.
