Activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, has distanced himself from the newly formed opposition coalition, accusing its members of contributing to Nigeria’s prolonged dysfunction.
Speaking on News Central’s Breakfast Central on Friday, Sowore criticized the coalition’s makeup, which includes long-time political figures he described as “country and destiny destroyers.”
He argued that the same veteran politicians responsible for Nigeria’s troubles are now attempting to reinvent themselves under new political identities.
“These are not bridge builders, these are country and destiny destroyers who have come together,” Sowore said, firmly rejecting any alliance with the group.
“I have no doubts that I don’t need to be in bed with strange bedfellows,” he added. “I cannot be on a bridge that has been built and broken by the same people.”
The opposition coalition, composed of members from multiple political parties, recently chose the African Democratic Congress as its official platform.
Sowore, however, made it clear that he would have no part in their efforts.
