The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, declared on Thursday that all South East governors are firmly supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration, during a working visit to Abia State Governor Alex Otti.

The former Ebonyi State governor made the assertion after inspecting federal road projects in Abia, where he praised Otti’s infrastructure revolution and sought further state-federal collaboration on critical routes.

“We have every reason as Ndigbo and people of the Southeast, irrespective of party affiliation, to stand with this man (President Tinubu) who is standing with the Southeast to rewrite our history and relaunch us into the mainstream of the federal government,” Umahi stated during the courtesy visit.

Highlighting Tinubu’s Southeast development agenda, the Minister noted: “I’ll beat my chest to say that all the Governors of Southeast are standing with the President.”

He particularly commended Otti’s non-partisan approach to federal road repairs, including the Julius Berger-reconstructed Port Harcourt Road in Aba.

“I came to secretly look at some of our projects… and I want to say I’m very proud of what you’re doing for Abia people,” Umahi revealed. “The Port-Harcourt Road is mind-blowing… only a heart like yours could heal that place.”

The Works Minister made a special appeal for state intervention on the unfinished Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway carriageway: “See what you can do to help us. Even if you want to use the same contractor, use them.”

Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s collaborative stance: “We’ll work with the Federal Government… for the benefit of our people. When roads are done, the credit goes to government… the beneficiaries are the people.”

The Abia governor disclosed plans to reschedule Tinubu’s postponed visit to inaugurate the Port Harcourt Road and other projects after the President’s Vatican trip, promising to assess the problematic expressway section.
