Sevilla’s Adams to miss S’Eagles W’Cup qualifiers over injury

Super Eagles will be without striker, Jerome Adams, for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and South Africa after the Sevilla forward sustained an injury.

Adams picked up the knock during Sevilla’s La Liga clash with Getafe on Sunday.

The Spanish club confirmed on Wednesday that the 25-year-old is dealing with a long adductor muscle injury in his left thigh, ruling him out of both Sevilla’s league clash with Girona on Saturday and Nigeria’s international fixtures.

“Sevilla FC completed their first training session on Wednesday ahead of the match in Girona,” the club said in an official statement. “Neither Rubén Vargas nor Akor Adams trained with the group. While Vargas worked individually in the gym, Adams is sidelined due to a long adductor muscle injury in his left thigh.”

Adams, who received his first call-up to Nigeria’s provisional 31-man squad last week under coach Eric Chelle, was set to feature for the three-time African champions in their qualifiers against Rwanda and Bafana Bafana.

The setback marks a disappointing moment for the striker, who had been eager to make his debut for the Super Eagles.
