Serie A: Parma stun Atlanta 3-2, move out of relegation zone

Parma secured their Serie A status in dramatic fashion on the final day of the season, coming from behind to snatch a 3-2 victory over Atalanta in Bergamo on Sunday.

Despite having already clinched third place and a Champions League berth, Atalanta were stunned by a spirited Parma side desperate to avoid relegation, sitting just two points clear of the drop zone before kick-off.

Daniel Maldini fired the hosts into a comfortable lead with a lightning-fast double midway through the first half, first converting a cross in the 32nd minute, then striking the woodwork moments later with a fierce effort.

But the second half saw a shift in momentum. Only three minutes after the restart, Antoine Hainaut capitalized on a loose ball in the box and rifled it past the keeper to reignite Parma’s hopes.

The comeback gained momentum in the 71st minute when substitute Jacob Ondrejka sliced through the Atalanta defence and slotted home the equaliser.

As the match edged into stoppage time, Ondrejka struck again, completing a remarkable turnaround and ensuring Parma’s survival in the Italian top flight.
