Super Eagles forward, Tolu Arokodare, netted his first goal of the season during KRC Genk’s 2-1 loss to Standard Liege on Sunday.

Standard Liege took the lead in the 37th minute through a Thomas Henry penalty.

After halftime, Marlon Fossey extended their advantage.

Arokodare, who began the match on the bench, came on for Jarne Steuckers in the 67th minute.

Just three minutes after coming on, the 24-year-old struck to narrow the gap for Genk.

Last season’s top scorer in the Belgian Pro League has yet to make a starting appearance for the Smurfs this campaign.

Genk currently sit 14th in the league standings and remain in search of their first victory of the season.

Thorsten Fink’s team will face OH Leuven away in their next fixture on Friday, August 15.
