The family of the late Aminu Dantata has disclosed that his burial arrangements have been delayed due to challenges in securing approval from Saudi authorities.
According to the Secretary to the late business mogul, Mustapha Abdullahi Junaidu, the delay is largely due to the weekend work schedule in Saudi Arabia, which has made it difficult to finalize essential documentation for the burial.
Islamic tradition mandates the swift burial of the deceased, but Junaidu explained that efforts are ongoing to fulfill Dantata’s wish of being buried in Madina.
“We are working diligently to ensure his wishes are met but the authorities in Saudi do not work during the weekends so we are finding it difficult to conclude the necessary paperwork. The presidency is also assisting us in our efforts so hopefully, we will get things done,” he said.
Junaidu further noted that if the process continues to stall, the family may be compelled to return his body to Kano for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
Aminu Dantata passed away on Friday night in Abu Dhabi. Meanwhile, a funeral prayer in absentia was observed for him in Kano on Saturday afternoon.
