Leroy Sane could be heading for a sensational Premier League return with Arsenal and Chelsea leading the chase for the Bayern Munich winger, whose contract expires in June
Despite Bayern’s desire to keep the 29-year-old, negotiations over a new deal have hit a stumbling block.
The German champions have reportedly tabled a three-year contract worth around £12 million per season, but Sane remains unconvinced by the offer.
With talks deadlocked and Bayern unwilling to meet his full demands, Sane’s departure looks more likely and several English clubs are on high alert.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United have all expressed interest in the pacey attacker, who notched 11 goals and five assists in 28 Bundesliga appearances this term.
Sane, who joined Bayern in 2020 from Manchester City for £41 million, previously thrived in England with 83 goal contributions in 139 appearances and two Premier League titles under his belt.
According to Sky Germany, the German international would favour a return to the Premier League with a “top, ambitious club”, making Arsenal and Chelsea attractive propositions.
In contrast, Spurs and Newcastle are reportedly not on Sane’s radar.
Interestingly, a move to Spain is also firmly on the cards. Sane has brought in agent Pini Zahavi, who previously oversaw high-profile Bayern exits such as David Alaba and Robert Lewandowski to La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively, a move that some interpret as a signal of Sane’s interest in following a similar path.
Nevertheless, Bayern Munich haven’t given up hope entirely. On Friday, sporting director Max Eberl said, “Our wish is still to extend with Leroy. But we’ve also agreed on a framework. And if that framework were to be exceeded, it would become difficult. It’s now up to Leroy.”
Sane’s future remains wide open, but one thing is certain, whether in England or Spain, Europe’s elite are lining up for his signature.
