American costume designer, Ruth Carter, has become the first Black woman to win two Oscars.
She won the costume design category in the ongoing 2023 Oscars.
She previously won an Oscar in 2019 for Marvel’s Black Panther, becoming the first-ever Black woman to take home the statuette for costume design.
She now becomes the first Black woman to be a two-time winner in any category, and joins only four other Black winners to have two competitive Oscars
