Russia intel to Iran will prolong Middle East war – Zelensky

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Monday that Kyiv has what he described as “irrefutable” evidence that Russia is continuing to provide intelligence to Iran, warning that the activity could worsen and prolong instability in the Middle East.

Following a meeting with Ukraine’s military intelligence chief, Zelenskiy wrote on X that Russia is combining its own surveillance capabilities with information obtained through regional cooperation networks.

“Russia is using its own signals intelligence and electronic intelligence capabilities, as well as part of the data obtained through cooperation with partners in the Middle East,” he said on X after meeting the head of military intelligence.

In his nightly video address, Zelenskiy said there was “growing evidence” of ongoing Russian assistance to Iran, arguing that such cooperation is destabilising and must be halted.

“This is clearly destructive activity and must be stopped as it only ‌leads to further destabilisation. All responsible states have an interest in ensuring security and preventing bigger problem,” he said.

He added that global markets were already reacting negatively to heightened tensions, saying energy conditions in several countries were becoming more complicated. Zelenskiy also warned that Russia’s support was improving Iran’s ability to carry out more precise strikes.

“By helping the Iranian regime survive and strike more accurately, Russia is effectively prolonging the war.”

The Kremlin has previously rejected similar allegations, including a Wall Street Journal report last week suggesting intelligence and drone-related cooperation, which it dismissed as “fake news.”
