Robinho Jr reportedly demands Neymar public apology over alleged assault

Robinho Jr. has reportedly asked Santos forward Neymar to issue a public apology following an incident during Sunday’s training session that has triggered an internal investigation at the Brazilian club.

Santos’ legal department is currently reviewing the episode after the 18-year-old, son of former Manchester City striker Robinho, accused Neymar of physically assaulting him during the training ground confrontation.

The incident allegedly began when Neymar, 34, reacted angrily after Robinho Jr. dribbled past him during a drill, an action the senior forward is said to have interpreted as disrespectful.

Although tensions briefly flared, Neymar later apologised to the teenager and his mother for his reaction on Sunday.

However, according to GloboEsporte, Robinho Jr. has since made three separate allegations against Neymar and has formally requested a meeting with Santos management to discuss terminating his contract.
.
He cited what he described as a hostile environment at the club, referring to a “lack of minimum safety standards” at the club.

Despite the seriousness of the claims, ESPN Brasil reported that Santos officials were surprised by the escalation, especially given that both players reportedly resolved the matter amicably in front of teammates and staff shortly after the altercation.

Sources close to the club also suggest that Robinho Jr.’s stance may be influenced by his desire to leave Santos, with the apology demand viewed internally as a possible step toward pursuing a contract termination through legal means.

However, representatives of the young forward strongly reject that interpretation, insisting his reaction stems purely from concern over the incident itself.

Another possible outcome being discussed within the club is a temporary loan move for Robinho Jr., who has struggled for regular playing time since being promoted to Santos’ first team last summer.

His current contract runs until April 2027, and renewal discussions have already been described as complex.

Despite the ongoing controversy, both Neymar and Robinho Jr. travelled with the squad to Asunción, Paraguay, ahead of their midweek Copa Sudamericana group fixture against Deportivo Recoleta.

ESPN also reported that Neymar, Robinho Jr. and Gabriel Barbosa ‘Gabigol’ were seen having lunch together at the team hotel, suggesting a level of normality within the camp amid the investigation.
