The body of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to the country from London, ahead of his interment in Daura, Katsina State, scheduled for later today.
The remains, which left the United Kingdom earlier on Sunday, July 13, 2025, were received at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport in Katsina by President Bola Tinubu, Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda, top government officials, and members of the Buhari family.
Buhari passed away in London at the age of 82 following a brief illness.
In an earlier directive, President Tinubu had appointed Vice President Kashim Shettima to head the Federal Government’s delegation accompanying the late leader’s body back to Nigeria.
The former president is expected to be buried later today in his hometown, Daura, in line with Islamic burial traditions.
