Former Netherlands midfielder, Rafael van der Vaart, has taken aim at Vinicius Junior over what he described as exaggerated reactions during Real Madrid’s 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the first-leg quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League.
Van der Vaart admitted that he admires Vinicius’ football ability but insisted that some of the Brazilian’s conduct on the pitch takes away from the entertainment of the game.
Speaking to Ziggo Sport, the former Dutch international did not hold back in his criticism.
“Vinicius is horrible.
“He annoys me to no end when I see him. I find it incredibly sad because he’s a fantastic player.
“But as soon as he gets a little push, he dives, hoping to see a red card for the opponent, and then gets up as if nothing happened.
“That’s the part I find sad about him.”
