Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, is reportedly on the verge of joining French women’s football powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain.

The potential transfer was highlighted on IRP, a platform known for tracking PSG women’s team news.

“PSG strikes hard: total agreement for Ajibade!” it stated.

“Freshly crowned African champion, the 25-year-old Nigerian striker is expected to soon join the capital to bring her experience.

“A reinforcement that addresses a need in the Parisian offensive area.”

Ajibade is currently a free agent, having parted ways with Spanish side Atletico Madrid in May.

During her four-year spell in Spain, she played a pivotal role in securing the Spanish Super Cup in 2021 and the Copa de la Reina in 2023.

PSG, founded in 1971, has established itself as a dominant force in French women’s football.

The club has competed in the top flight since 2001, winning its first French Cup in 2010 and claiming the Division 1 title in 2021.

The team has also twice reached the UEFA Women’s Champions League final, falling to FFC Frankfurt in 2015 and Lyon in 2017.

Ajibade comes into PSG following a historic moment with the Super Falcons. Last month, she captained Nigeria to a record-extending 10th WAFCON crown, orchestrating a dramatic 3-2 comeback win against Morocco in the final.

This marked her second WAFCON triumph, having first lifted the trophy in Ghana in 2018.
