The Kaduna State Police Command has uncovered an illegal factory engaged in the production of adulterated soya bean oil in the Maraban Jos area of the state.

This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by the command’s spokesman, Mansir Hassan, who said the operation was conducted on May 5 by operatives of the State Intelligence Department following a credible tip-off.

According to Hassan, the illegal facility was located on a fenced plot of land along Mamadi Road in Maraban Jos, within the Igabi Local Government Area.

He revealed that three suspects were apprehended at the scene of the operation. They were identified as Zailani Shuaibu, 33, the owner of the factory; Nasiru Usman, 24; and Salisu Usman, 49.

The statement read, “During the raid, the following items were recovered as exhibits: two drums of crops (suspected raw materials), fifteen 25-litre jerry cans containing unfinished products, two 25-litre jerry cans of finished adulterated soya bean oil and one empty drum used for local processing of the product.

“The operation led to the discovery of the illegal factory, and we recovered several exhibits that would be used as evidence in court.”

Reaffirming the command’s commitment to public safety, Hassan added, “The Kaduna State Police Command is committed to protecting the public and ensuring that those who engage in criminal activities are brought to justice.”

He noted that the case is currently under investigation at the SID Headquarters in Kaduna, and that further efforts are being made to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate.

“The case is currently under investigation at the SID Headquarters in Kaduna,” he said.

“The Commissioner of Police, RABIU MUHAMMAD, reiterates the Command’s commitment to safeguarding public health and cracking down on criminal activities that endanger the lives of innocent citizens. Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and report such activities to the nearest police station,” the statement added.
