Police rescue kidnap victim unhurt in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has rescued a 30-year-old man, Alhaji Gede Yusuf, who was abducted in the Igbeti area of the state.

Yusuf, a resident of Old Oyo National Park, Dauda Village via Igbeti, was reportedly kidnapped by unidentified gunmen, prompting a swift response from security operatives after the incident was reported at the Igbeti Divisional Police Headquarters.

Police authorities said a coordinated operation involving multiple security agencies and local stakeholders was immediately launched to secure his release.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said sustained intelligence-led bush-combing operations across suspected hideouts forced the kidnappers to abandon their captive.

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Femi Haruna, commended the efforts of the operatives and other security partners involved in the operation.

“The success recorded in this rescue underscores the importance of synergy among security agencies and the invaluable support of community stakeholders,” Haruna said.
