The Lagos State Police Command has recovered 75 mobile phones and five laptops abandoned by fleeing suspects during a patrol conducted by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad in Ikeja.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the recovery was made around Allen Roundabout, Ikeja, when officers intercepted two suspects who fled, leaving behind two large “Ghana Must Go” bags.
“On Sunday, 5th October, 2025, at about 5:30 a.m., our operatives inspected the bags and discovered 32 iPhones of different models, 38 smartphones of various brands such as Samsung, Redmi, Tecno, and Honor, as well as five laptops, several smart wristwatches, AirPods, a Samsung Tab, and a Sorapad,” Adebisi said.
The RRS Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye, confirmed that preliminary investigations revealed the items were stolen property hurriedly abandoned by the suspects during the chase.
“Evidence so far points to the fact that the devices were stolen. The suspects escaped before they could be apprehended, but efforts are ongoing to track them down,” Jejeloye stated.
He urged members of the public who may have lost similar items to visit the RRS Headquarters in Alausa with proof of ownership for proper identification and retrieval.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, commended the RRS operatives for their vigilance, describing the operation as a testament to the command’s proactive approach to tackling property crimes.
“The Lagos State Police Command remains committed to intelligence-driven policing and proactive strategies aimed at ensuring safety across the state,” Jimoh said.
“We will continue to intensify patrols and visibility operations to prevent crime and reassure residents of our readiness to protect lives and property.”
The command also disclosed that its tactical teams recently arrested four members of a car-snatching and armed robbery syndicate responsible for violent attacks on vehicle owners in Lagos and neighboring states.
“The notorious gang has been responsible for several armed robbery incidents. Their arrest followed intelligence-led operations between October 15 and 17,” Adebisi added.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station.
