The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended six individuals, including a woman, during a targeted raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the operation was conducted by officers attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad in Enugwu-Ukwu.

According to Ikenga, the team acted on credible intelligence and stormed the location—popularly known as “7th Mile”—around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

“In the course of the operation, our operatives arrested six suspects and recovered a fabricated Beretta pistol without a magazine, along with quantities of hard drugs, including crystal methamphetamine (commonly called Mkpuru Mmiri),” Ikenga stated.

Those arrested were identified as Olisaemeka Izuchukwu, 21; Isioma Chisom, 22; Chinonso Izuchukwu, 20; Chinaza Isioma, 24; Onyekwelu Miracle, 19; and Mrs. Chinenye Eloka Okeke, 35.

Commending the officers for their swift action, Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reiterated the command’s commitment to clamping down on cultism, illicit drug trafficking, and other criminal activities in the state.

“Our zero-tolerance stance against criminality remains firm. We will sustain this momentum to ensure Anambra remains unsafe for criminal elements,” Orutugu said.

The police spokesman added that the suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
