The Nigeria Police Force has launched an investigation into popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM 1, following a petition from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority over alleged misconduct at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
According to the petition, the incident occurred on August 5, 2025, and involved actions said to have obstructed the safe operation of an aircraft, in violation of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, 2023.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Airport Command to “immediately commence a thorough investigation” into the matter.
“This probe will unravel the circumstances that led to the incident and ensure justice is served,” Force spokesperson, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement on Tuesday.
He added that the police remain committed to “upholding safety and security within Nigeria’s aviation sector” and will continue to collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure strict compliance with aviation laws.
The alleged incident comes amid growing concern over unruly passenger behaviour in the aviation industry.
The NCAA has in recent years warned that such conduct could endanger passengers and crew, stressing that offenders risk prosecution and possible travel bans.
KWAM 1, a prominent figure in Fuji music for over four decades, has yet to publicly comment on the allegations.
