The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper and uncovered his hideout in Gidan Akuya Village, located in Keana Local Government Area, following credible intelligence provided by operatives of the State Intelligence Department.
The development was disclosed in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Ramhan Nansel, who said the operation forms part of the police’s sustained campaign against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
“Upon sighting the operatives, the criminals attempted to flee the scene but were immediately pursued. During the operation, one suspect, identified as Jibril Yunusa, 43, was arrested,” the statement said.
According to the police spokesperson, a search carried out at the hideout led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine and a locally fabricated rifle.
During questioning, Yunusa allegedly admitted taking part in multiple kidnapping incidents along the Keana–Awe axis and also gave information that could assist investigators in tracking down other members of the gang.
The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has directed officers to step up efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects so they can be brought to justice.
While praising the operatives for their professionalism during the operation, the commissioner assured residents that the command remains resolute in its commitment to tackling criminal activities and protecting lives and property across Nasarawa State.
