The Kano State Police Command has apprehended several suspects linked to separate cases of armed robbery and vehicle theft across the state, recovering multiple stolen items in the process.

In a statement the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the arrests were made between May 8 and May 28, 2025, following a series of intelligence-led operations.

According to Kiyawa, one of the arrested suspects, Manassa Luper Israel, was tracked down in Kano after allegedly stealing a white Mercedes-Benz container truck from a resident in Abuja.

“On May 23, 2025, at around 11 a.m., we received a report that a white Mercedes-Benz container truck was stolen in Abuja. The suspect, Manassa Luper Israel, was arrested in Kano while trying to sell the vehicle, which has since been recovered,” he stated.

In a separate operation carried out on May 28, police arrested 23-year-old Murtala Wada of Hotoro, Ladanai Quarters, for his alleged role in a robbery syndicate operating along Maiduguri Road.

“Acting on credible intelligence, operatives recovered a Toyota Sienna vehicle bearing two different number plates and a Qlink motorcycle from the suspect,” Kiyawa disclosed.

The command also reported the interception of a black Opel Astra loaded with textile materials and other goods on May 8. The vehicle was abandoned by the suspect, who escaped the scene before police arrived.

On May 21, additional recoveries were made, including a Hyundai Elantra, a Suzuki ladies’ motorcycle, five electric motors, an alternator, two roller machines, and two mixer machines, all suspected to be stolen.

“All cases are under thorough investigation, and the suspects will be prosecuted accordingly once investigations are concluded,” the police spokesperson added.

Reacting to the arrests, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, commended the officers involved in the operations for their dedication and professionalism.

“These successful arrests and recoveries demonstrate the unwavering commitment of the command to protecting lives and property,” Bakori said. “We urge residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities through our emergency lines or at the nearest police station.”

The command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.
