The Kaduna State Police Command has issued a security advisory cautioning against a planned political rally by supporters of former presidential candidate Peter Obi, intended to celebrate his birthday.

The police expressed concerns that the event could be infiltrated by criminal elements seeking to disrupt public order.

In an official statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer DSP Mansir Hassan, authorities revealed they had received credible intelligence about potential security risks associated with the gathering.

The Command emphasized that all political rallies and public political gatherings remain suspended in the state until the Independent National Electoral Commission officially commences political activities.

The police noted that several political parties are scheduled to conduct their primaries on the same day as the proposed rally, with proper notifications already submitted to security agencies. Officials fear the overlapping events could lead to heightened tensions and possible clashes.

“In view of these developments, the command strongly advises the organizers of the planned Peter Obi rally to suspend any gathering or procession,” the police statement read. “If they wish to honor their principal, such activities should be conducted in a safe and non-disruptive manner.”

The Command issued a stern warning that it would not hesitate to take legal action against any individuals or groups violating this directive. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order while urging continued public cooperation with security agencies.

The advisory comes as Peter Obi’s supporters, known for their enthusiastic grassroots mobilization, planned celebrations to mark the former presidential candidate’s birthday.
